Silko Dog: A story of comfort, innovation and dog well-being

The story of Silko Dog begins with a shared passion for dog welfare and a recognized need for better, coat-friendly dog gear. There was a lack of gear on the market that wouldn’t harm a dog’s delicate skin and coat – materials that caused tangles, chafing and discomfort were commonplace for both owners and their four-legged friends. From this realization came the idea to develop something truly innovative.

Silko Dog’s founding members, experienced dog equipment professional and founder of Kana Collection Kana Alanen, and business expert Piia Järvenpää, joined forces to create a solution to this challenge. Kana’s years of experience in designing and manufacturing dog equipment, her deep understanding of dog ergonomics and coat characteristics, combined with Piia’s strong operational expertise, created a solid foundation for Silko Dog.

At the heart of the solution is the registered trademark Silko fabric. This unique material has been specially developed to prevent tangling and chafing of the coat thanks to its smooth surface. It is ideal for all breeds – from long-haired, rough-haired and fluffy to hairless – and is also pleasant for sensitive skin. Silko fabric is known for its durability, water repellency and easy care, which ensures the longevity and practicality of the equipment.

While Silko products have previously been more limited in availability, the launch of Silko Dog finally brings these innovative accessories to a wider range of dog owners. The collection includes the ergonomic Silko Pinsu harness, the versatile Silko Zero semi-tightening collars and the unique Silko Ympärioraattu semi-tightening collars. Each product has been carefully designed to ensure your dog's comfort, safety and freedom of movement. For example, the Ympärioraattu collar designed by Kana and the Pinsu harness safety strap are examples of Silko Dog's commitment to innovative and safe design.
