Kana Alanen: Founder & Creative Director

Dog equipment designer Kana, co-founder of Silko Dog, is a true collar wizard. Since 2009, she has been building a career in dog equipment as a crafter and designer for her own businesses, Kanashop and Kana Collection. From the very beginning, she has drawn her design inspiration from her own rescue dogs, Annie and Helios, and from Princess, who started it all. Always in our hearts, Princess 2009-2024.

Kanashop and Kana Collection are known for stylish, safe, and functional equipment that emphasizes padding and reflectors. Kana has a deep understanding of dog equipment ergonomics and a passion for perfect quality – qualities that are invaluable for Silko Dog's product development. At Silko Dog, Kana is primarily responsible for product design, branding, and marketing.

As a versatile personality, Kana is also known as a Finnish artist, TV, radio, and event host, and an advocate for animal welfare. She co-founded Dog Force One, which helps abandoned animals primarily in Spa

The Power of Friendship: At the Heart of Silko Dog

Silko Dog was founded year 2025 by best friends Kana and Piia Järvenpää. They brought the brand alive and started it all together. Piia helped to get things going and since April 2026 Kana is continuing the work for Silko Dog solo.

Piia and Kana's friendship began in 2007 when a shared hobby of keeping pet rats brought them together. From this unusual starting point, a deep and lasting friendship blossomed, fueled by their mutual love for animals and their well-being. This shared passion also led them to active involvement in the Dog Force One association, where they worked together to rescue and help animals.

Over the years, through their friendship and shared values, their complementary skills – Kana's creative vision and knowledge of the animal world, and Piia's operational and strategic expertise – found a natural outlet in the founding of Silko Dog. Their friendship is the heart of Silko Dog and serves as a strong foundation for the company's values and development.
