What is Silko® fabric and why is it so amazing?

The Unbeatable Silko® Fabric

Silko® fabric is a trademarked super fabric that is exceptionally coat-friendly. At Silko Dog, we use it as the lining material in our collars and harnesses.

What makes Silko fabric perfect for dog gear is its many special properties:

• The extremely smooth surface causes no friction or chafing to the dog’s coat or skin.
• The smooth texture helps prevent tangles and is very gentle even on wire-haired coat.
• Its thin yet strong structure makes the fabric soft, comfortable, and highly durable.
• Silko fabric does not generate static electricity.
• The fabric repels water, so the gear doesn’t become soaking wet in the rain.
• Dirt does not easily absorb through the fabric into the padding, and in most cases can simply be wiped off.
• Silko-lined gear is washable by hand and can also be machine washed at 40°C when placed in a laundry bag.
• Thanks to its light weight, Silko products dry quickly after washing.
• The beautiful colors of Silko fabrics stay vibrant for a long time.

Silko fabric has been used in our designer Kana’s artisan studio, Kanashop (find it is Facebook), for nearly a decade.
